A great baseball drill to help with velocity, control, and consistency when throwing.

Do this drill 3-4 times per week, 30 repetitions.

Extension out front is so important in the process of throwing a baseball. We see many youth players "cut the ball off" or "alligator arm" the ball. The video below will fix that issue if done consistently and correctly.

Many professional ball players use a towel as part of their routine. Watch former MLB pitcher James Parr explain in the video below.

BENEFITS

Arm Strength
Arm Speed
Better Timing
Better Control aka 'Command'
Consistency

Important:

The target you hit with the towel should be about the height of the player's front knee

The target should make the player get full extension to make contact

Focus should be on hitting down through the target not across or just to the target

Keep proper throwing mechanics just as you were throwing a baseball

Create arm speed from start to finish -- accelerate through target
